Why Not Scotland? Film Evening (free of charge)

WHY NOT SCOTLAND?

Across mainland Europe, nature is making a dramatic recovery. Wildlife is returning, forests are expanding, rivers are being set free and wetlands restored. As nature bounces back, people are returning too, finding new economic opportunities and enjoying the many benefits of a revitalised landscape.

So, if rewilding can happen in Italy, Germany, Poland and Norway, could Scotland be next?

Why not join us for ‘Why Not Scotland’ a fascinating thought provoking docu-film about re wilding. We are showing this at The Hub Free of Charge so please come along.

Nikita’s Crepes will be here before hand 5pm-7.30pm so treat yourself to a tasty bite to eat before the film starts. We will also have the bar open for refreshments, ice cream, crisps and chocolates

Exploring Expressive Colour with Bella Green

Exploring Expressive Colour with Bella Green It could be said that colour is the main expressive element in painting. Along with texture and gesture it is what brings life and energy and feeling to a painting no matter what the subject matter. This class will look at what ‘Expressive Colour’ means for you and give opportunities to explore creating mood with a limited palette. The role of ‘colour key’ and essential colour theory will also be covered. The class is suitable for all mediums, but acrylics will be the most useful in terms of drying time. What to bring. Bring your favourite materials and tools, paints, a range of large and small brushes and some A3 paper suitable for acrylics. Bring a range of colours to include red, yellows, blues, some earth colours ,and black and white. If you need a detailed list please get in touch with Bella. Please also bring three photo references. a face or head; a landscape or seascape; and a still life or photo of an object you like. Also bring three precoloured A3 sheets of paper - just roughly paint a couple of sheets with your favourite colours..eg all red, straight from the tube or a mixed colour. SUNDAY FILM AFTERNOON

Till is a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till Mobley's relentless pursuit of justice for her 14 year old son, Emmett Till, after the tragic events of what happened to him in 1955 whilst visiting his cousins in Mississippi. In Mamie's poignant journey of grief turned to action, we see the universal power of a mother's ability to change the world.

Democracy Matters Meeting

Can you have your cake and eat it? 2pm-4pm Saturday 10th February

Come and join us on Saturday 10th Feb at 2.00pm when we will be enjoying cakes and coffee whilst we discuss how a small community like ours might ensure it gets a fair slice of the Public Cake.

Democracy Matters Somebody somewhere is making decisions on your behalf. They could be an MP, MSP, local councillor or public service worker. This is important work that affects our lives in all sorts of ways, such as helping us to stay safe and healthy, and access fair work and social care.

Come along and meet some of those who speak on your behalf?

There is a growing recognition that it is often better for decisions about the issues that affect different communities in Scotland to be taken with more active involvement of those communities. Whether that is communities in different places organising at a very local level, or communities with a shared interest organising at a more regional level. This enables public services to work in ways, which meet local circumstances and reflect the priorities of different communities.

YOUR FUTURE How can we ensure that a small community like ours has a voice in this? YOUR IDEAS Using a novel ‘speed dating’ style we will capture what you say and feed back into the   Government Consultation
