Exploring Expressive Colour with Bella Green It could be said that colour is the main expressive element in painting. Along with texture and gesture it is what brings life and energy and feeling to a painting no matter what the subject matter. This class will look at what ‘Expressive Colour’ means for you and give opportunities to explore creating mood with a limited palette. The role of ‘colour key’ and essential colour theory will also be covered. The class is suitable for all mediums, but acrylics will be the most useful in terms of drying time. What to bring. Bring your favourite materials and tools, paints, a range of large and small brushes and some A3 paper suitable for acrylics. Bring a range of colours to include red, yellows, blues, some earth colours ,and black and white. If you need a detailed list please get in touch with Bella. Please also bring three photo references. a face or head; a landscape or seascape; and a still life or photo of an object you like. Also bring three precoloured A3 sheets of paper - just roughly paint a couple of sheets with your favourite colours..eg all red, straight from the tube or a mixed colour. These will be starting points, so do not need to be perfectly flat.
